Maj. Gen. Mark Westergren will be the next deputy chief of the National Security Agency's Central Security Service, the Pentagon announced Tuesday.
The Pentagon also announcd that Brig. Gen. Tony Baurenfeind, who is now deputy commander for Special Operations Joint Task Force-Afghanistan for U.S. Central Command in Kabul, will become the new commanding general of Special Operations Command in Korea.
Westergren is now deputy commander of the Joint Functional Component Command for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance at U.S. Strategic Command in Washington. NSA's Central Security Service provides cryptologic support to codewriters and codebreakers across the military.
Westergren previously served as director of intelligence for STRATCOM at Offut Air Force Base in Nebraska, director of ISR for Pacific Air Forces headquarters at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Hawaii, and director of collection management in Baghdad in 2008 and 2009.
