The Air Force has identified the airman who died in a rollover crash Saturday morning in Utah as Staff Sgt. Derek Ramos, 34, of Hill Air Force Base.

Ramos and his wife, Emily, died when their Jeep rolled while off-roading near Bountiful. Their two children survived the crash.

"Our heartfelt condolences go out to the Ramos' children, their family and friends," said Col. Ron Jolly, 75th Air Base Wing commander, in a news release. "This is a loss to all of us, and our thoughts are with those grieving during this difficult time."

Ramos joined the Air Force in 2005 and was assigned to Hill in August 2010, the base said in a release. He worked as the noncommissioned officer-in-charge of Satellite Pharmacy, 75th Medical Support Squadron.

"Sergeant Ramos was an outstanding Airman with a passion for life," Lt. Col. Jeffrey Cook, the 75th Medical Support Squadron Commander, said in the release. "He and Emily were a faithful couple that loved serving others. Derek and Emily will be terribly missed but their legacy will live on through their children and in the many lives of the men and women they touched. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the families during this time."
