Five officers will be taking on new roles in the Air Force, Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Welsh announced Friday.
Brig. Gen. James C. Vechery will be moving from Europe to the Pentagon. Currently serving as the director of logistics at the headquarters of U.S. Africa Command in Stuttgart, Germany; Vechery has been assigned to become the director of operational capability requirements for the deputy chief of staff for strategic plans and requirements.
Brig. Gen. David W. Hicks is currently serving as the vice commander for First Air Force, Air Forces Northern, Air Combat Command, at Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla. He is assigned to take on a dual role as the commander of the NATO Air Training Command-Afghanistan for Resolute Support, U.S. Central Command; and as the commander of the 438th Expeditionary Wing, Air Combat Command, in Southwest Asia.
Replacing Hicks will be Brig. Gen. Daniel J. Orcutt, who will become the new vice commander for the First Air Force, Air Forces Northern, ACC, at Tyndall. He is currently the commander of the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing, ACC, in Southwest Asia.
Col. Charles S. Corcoran is selected to pin on his first star, and will take over duties from Orcutt as the commander of the 380th. Corcoran is currently serving as the commander of the 3rd Wing, Pacific Air Forces, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.
Col. Mark A. Koeniger is also selected for promotion to brigadier general, and is assigned to be the commander of the 711th Human Performance Wing at the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. He is currently serving as the deputy director for medical operations and research for the Air Force Office of the Surgeon General in Falls Church, Va.
