OGDEN, Utah — A solar jobs program for veterans, first touted by President Obama, will begin next month.
The Standard-Examiner reports that the U.S. Department of Energy's "Solar Ready Vets" program is scheduled to start at the base Feb. 1.
Under the program, 75,000 people will be prepared to work in the solar industry by 2020.
Military veterans getting out of active duty will make up a large portion of potential workers.
The Department of Energy and Salt Lake Community College joined efforts to find instructors.
Hill will provide classroom and lab space but base staff will not be teaching.
Obama announced the program during a visit at the northern Utah base in April.
