Nearly 50 years after becoming the second man to set foot on the moon, astronaut Buzz Aldrin became the oldest person to fly with the Air Force Thunderbirds, reports the Alabama Local News.
Aldrin, 87, joined America’s Ambassadors in Bluefor an aerial demonstration at the Florida Air and Space Show in Melbourne, Florida Sunday morning. The Thunderbirds, along with Aldrin, flew in a diamond formation over the Kennedy Space Center.
In 1969, Aldrin served as the pilot of the Apollo 11 and became the second human to walk on the moon following Neil Armstrong. Aldrin retired from the Air Force in 1972 as a colonel.
