A lieutenant colonel from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey is scheduled to face a court-martial Dec. 4 for the alleged sexual assault of a minor.

Lt. Col. Norbert King II of the 818th Mobility Support Advisory Squadron is charged with sexual assault and committing a sexual act upon a minor, according to the court-martial docket on the Judge Advocate General’s website.

Shaun Eagan, a spokesman for the 87th Air Base Wing at McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, said in an email Friday that King allegedly had non-consensual sex with a 17-year-old girl last September at or near the base.

“It is important to remember in the military justice system every individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt,” Eagan said. ”While it is premature to comment on the outcome of the case, charges have been referred to trial by the General Court Martial Convening Authority, and a court will determine if the accused is guilty of the alleged offenses, and, if so, adjudicate an appropriate sentence.”

Arraignments and motions in King’s case are scheduled for Oct. 2.
