The Air Force will announce the promotion selections for technical sergeant on June 9 -- nearly two weeks after the original release date.

The E-6 promotion announcement was originally planned for May 28, but the Air Force delayed it. In a May 21 release, the Air Force said that it needed more time to review the promotion results because this is the first tech sergeant promotion cycle to include revisions to the enlisted promotion system.

The Air Force is testing "every aspect of the system to ensure accuracy," Lt. Gen. Sam Cox, Air Force deputy chief of staff for manpower, personnel and services, said in the May 21 release. The sew-on dates — when selectees actually become their new, higher rank — will still begin in August and will not be delayed.

Air Force Personnel Center spokesman Mike Dickerson confirmed the revised date in an email to Air Force Times.
