An alleged armed suspect is hospitalized in critical condition after a reported shooting Monday at the front gate of Little Rock Air Force Base in Arkansas.
The suspect tried to gain unauthorized access to the base at the gate on Vandenberg Drive around 9:15 a.m. Central Standard Time, the base said in a release. After being taken into custody, the suspect was taken to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. A bystander was also taken to North Metro Medical Center in Jacksonville, Arkansas, for what the base called nonrelated medical care, and has been released.
The local news station KTHV reported that shots were fired at the gate.
The base was locked down after the incident and all gates were closed. By 2 p.m., the lockdown had been lifted.
