The Air Force on Monday announced it has chosen 111 lieutenant colonels and lieutenant colonel-selects to be candidates for Reserve Officer Training Corps detachment command.
The Air Force Personnel Center did not say in its release how many candidates might be chosen out of the candidate pool this time, but last December, the Air Force tapped 22 officers for those jobs.
Sandy Muniz of AFPC's special duty assignment branch said in the release that special duty command opportunities like ROTC detachment command are prized assignments.
"Being selected for ROTC detachment command is a significant achievement for an officer," Muniz said. "ROTC detachment commanders are the first supervisors and mentors most new Air Force officers will follow. The selection criteria for this position are high because these men and women will develop future Air Force leaders."
