With the conclusion of several court-martial actions, Air Force Times is updating its reporting on previous Judge Advocate General cases. Below are several airmen who either had all charges against them dropped, or were acquitted during a trial.

  • Capt. Seth Ratner was acquitted of all charges by a military judge at RAF Mildenhall, U.K., during a August 2015 court-martial.
  • Charges against Lt. Col. Chad Marchesseault, of Fairchild Air Force Base, Wash., were dropped in November 2015, and the case was not sent to trial.
  • MSgt. Quincy James, of Los Angeles Air Force Base, Calif., was acquitted of all charges Jan. 14, 2016.
  • Charges against Col. Douglas James, of Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, were dropped after new evidence was presented, and the case was not sent to trial.
  • SSgt. Thomas Dobbs, of Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., was acquitted of all charges in a Novevember 2015 court-martial.

The Air Force currently does not report the names of airmen who are acquitted of crimes, making it difficult for the public to learn the results of some trials. Air Force Times was only able to learn that some of the airmen were acquitted because they contacted Air Force Times, or by speaking with their attorneys, family members and close friends. If you have information on an acquitted airmen, and would like us to update our reporting, please contact Phillip Swarts at pswarts@airforcetimes.com or Oriana Pawlyk at opawlyk@airforcetimes.com. Send us the court documentation of the acquittal or other disposition, please.
