A search-and-rescue operation is underway for a missing airman near Andersen Air Force Base in Guam, according to an Air Force press release.
The base fire department, Coast Guard Sector Guam, Guam Fire Department and Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 responded to a missing swimmer alert around midnight on Tuesday near Tarague Beach.
Base residents should avoid the Tarague Beach area until it's cleared by base authorities, the release said.
Airmen are only permitted to enter the water at Tarague Beach between 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., according to the Andersen Air Force Base website.
The airman went missing a day after the body of another airman was recovered in the waters near Pagat Point, according to the Pacific Daily News.
