The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force is temporarily closing President Harry Truman's Air Force One plane to install new interior LED lighting, according to the National Museum of the Air Force.

Truman named his plane The Independence, in recognition of his hometown, Independence, Missouri. The VC-118 transported the 33rd president from 1947 to 1953.

The plane is part of a collection of 10 presidential aircraft that went on display at the museum in a $40.8 million hangar that opened in June, according to Dayton Daily News.

"The new LED lights in The Independence will greatly improve interior illumination, are more cost effective than conventional lighting, and also more artifact-friendly, which will help ensure the long-term preservation of the aircraft," said museum curator Christina Douglass.

The plane will be closed March 20 and is set to reopen April 8.
