OKLAHOMA CITY — Officials say portions of a sprawling U.S. Air Force base have reopened in Oklahoma after being evacuated because of a "security concern."
Tinker Air Force Base said in a statement Friday that authorities evacuated an area near Gott Gate.
The base didn't immediately provide details about the incident. The affected area is the southeast corner of the base in Oklahoma City, near private offices housing employees of The Boeing Company.
The base later said the evacuation order was lifted around 11:30 a.m.
The Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office confirmed that a bomb squad had responded to the scene. A police department spokesman says neither the Oklahoma City Fire Department nor the Oklahoma City Police Department had responded to the incident.
