RAPID CITY, S.D. — Ellsworth Air Force Base has a new commander.

Col. John Edwards comes from the Pensacola Naval Air Station in Florida, where he served as the commander for the 439th Training Group. He replaces Col. Gentry Boswell, who’s moving to Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana.

Edwards says he’s ready for the challenge of commanding the largest B-1 combat wing in the United States Air Force. He says upcoming challenges, both in the Asian Pacific as well as in the Middle East, will be critical fights for the country.
