Airman 1st Class Hayley Reynolds has been identified as the person killed in a single-car crash between Elveden and Brandon, England, last week.
The airman’s family has been informed, and no other passengers were in the car, officials from RAF Lakenheath confirmed in a statement.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Airman Reynolds, and send our sincerest condolences to her family and friends at this difficult time,” said Col. Evan Pettus, 48th Fighter Wing commander.
The 21-year-old airman hailed from New Haven, Indiana. She was assigned to the 48th Medical Group, In-patient Operations Squadron, since April 2016, according to Air Force officials.
“The Liberty Wing would like to thank emergency responders from Suffolk Police and Norfolk Fire and Rescue for their efforts in responding to the accident,” said Pettus. “As the days get shorter and colder, we continue to stress driving safety measures to our airmen and families.”
Suffolk police confirmed that a blue Honda Civic collided with a tree, around a mile north of the Center Parcs village entrance, at around 12:15 a.m. on Friday, local news outlets reported.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, police said.
Any further questions regarding the collision investigation should be directed to Suffolk Police, Air Force officials said.
