The Air Force has selected 467 active-duty officers for promotion to colonel and lieutenant colonel, according to officials at the Air Force Personnel Center.
There were 402 lieutenant colonels selected for promotion to colonel in the Line of the Air Force, chaplain and nurse corps categories. The boards also selected 65 majors for promotion to lieutenant colonel in the chaplain and Line of the Air Force judge advocate categories.
Most of the officers selected for promotion came from the Line of the Air Force competitive category, according to statistics from the Air Force Personnel Center.
About 53 percent — 329 out of 625 — Line of the Air Force officers in the promotion zone for colonel were selected. Nine of 654 officers above the zone and 37 of the 2,210 lieutenant colonels below the zone were promoted.
Four of the eight chaplains in the promotion zone for colonel were selected for promotion. In the nurse corps, about 41 percent — 17 of 41 — officers in the zone were selected.
