Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho went into lockdown early Wednesday morning after receiving a false report of shots fired.

The lockdown at the base, about 50 miles southeast of Boise, started at 4 a.m. Wednesday and ended at about 6 a.m. after getting the all clear, according to the Washington Post.

“Lockdown lifted - All Clear- False reports of shots fired,” according to a 7:07 a.m. posting to the base’s official Facebook page. “Thanks Gunfighter family for sticking together & staying vigilant. Please report for normal shifts.”

Officials did not explain what led to the false report of shots fired.

It was not clear if the noise from a wing training exercise had anything to do with a false report of gunshots at the base, which led to a brief lockdown Wednesday morning. On Tuesday morning the 366th Fighter Wing began conducting a four-day, 24-hour training event “to prepare for real world contingenies,” according to a separate post on the base Facebook page. “Mountain Home residents may hear an increase in noise from the base throughout the week due to the exercise.”

But it was unclear if the false report was in any way related to the noise increase.
