The Air Force Academy on Thursday removed from competition 11 cadets from the men’s swim team due to misconduct, the academy said in a release.
The misconduct investigation is ongoing. The academy said that due to privacy protections, it could not release any details about what the cadets are accused of doing and what disciplinary actions they may face as a result.
“As cadets not in good standing, they are barred from representing the Air Force Academy at external events,” the release said. “The Air Force Academy holds its cadets, staff and faculty to the highest standards of conduct because our nation demands it of us, and it’s the right thing to do.”
No team officials, including the coach, have been removed, suspended or placed under investigation, academy spokesman Lt. Col. Allen Herritage said.

“Part of our mission to develop leaders of character is to hold those unwilling to meet these standards accountable and to ensure they understand that representing the Air Force Academy is a privilege,” the release said.
Herritage said it is unclear when the investigation might be completed.
