The Air Force on Monday announced that 686 officers have been chosen for promotion to captain in the latest quarterly cycle.
The Air Force Personnel Center’s list of first lieutenants selected for promotion includes 587 from the Line of the Air Force, five chaplains, 15 judge advocates, 52 nurses, seven from the Medical Service Corps, and 20 from the Biomedical Sciences Corps.
With 695 first lieutenants eligible for promotion, that equates to a 98.7 percent selection rate.
Except for one above-the-zone LAF officer chosen for promotion, all selectees for the CY17D cycle were in the promotion zone.

Of the LAF officers, 267 were in mission support, and another 140 were in non-rated ops career fields.
Of the 181 rated LAF officers selected for captain, 157 were pilots, eight were navigators, and 16 were air battle managers.
