Lt. Gen. Brad Webb, who is now the commander of Air Force Special Operations Command, has been nominated to be the next head of Air Education and Training Command, the Pentagon said Tuesday.

If confirmed, Webb would succeed Lt. Gen. Steven Kwast, who took over AETC in November 2017. It is unclear where Kwast will go after AETC.

The Pentagon also announced Maj. Gen. David Nahom has been nominated to receive his third star and become deputy chief of staff for plans and programs at Air Force headquarters. Nahom is now director of programs for the current deputy chief of staff for plans and programs, Lt. Gen. Jerry Harris.

Webb is a 1984 graduate of the Air Force Academy, and a command pilot with more than 3,700 hours flying the MH-53 Pave Low helicopter, the CV-22B Osprey, the UH-1 Huey helicopter, and the MC-130H Combat Talon and MC-130P Combat Shadow. His flight hours include 117 hours in combat.

He previously served as commander of NATO Special Operations Headquarters in Belgium, and before that was commander of Special Operations Command Europe in Germany. Webb took over AFSOC at Hurlburt Field, Florida, in 2016.

Webb has received the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Legion of Merit with an oak leaf cluster.
